Hand poured in Melbourne
About Kenshi Candles
Kenshi Candles makes it possible for any organisation to raise money for meaningful causes without the painful task of asking for donations.
The idea came from a 14 year old boy wanting to make a real difference in the world. During the last 18 months, this initiative has raised tens of thousands of dollars directly funding projects in Australia, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea and Myanmar.
Now, struggling to keep up with demand, Liam is collaborating with the Chin refugee community in Melbourne to produce the candles. After fleeing from civil war in Myanmar, these amazing people are now earning much needed income by making the candles here in Melbourne.
Social Enterprise
Real Impact
Kenshi Candles is a social enterprise – existing to help people in need and make a real difference in the world. This is why we donate over half our profit to charities and worthy causes making a difference. The key idea here is by using the money people are already spending on candles and gifts, we can raise funds for meaningful causes without the need for anyone to donate a cent.
Together we have raised over $30,000 directly funding projects in Australia, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Papau New Guinea and Myanmar.
Liam’s Story
My name is Liam Foldi. I’m 16 years old and created Kenshi Charity Candles as a Social Enterprise to make it easier for any person, club, school or charity to raise money easily. As a social enterprise, we donate over half our profit to fund charities and worthy causes that make a real difference in the world.
As a young person growing up in a wealthy city like Melbourne I found that most people honestly want to help others, but the hectic demands of life can make it hard to give back regularly. Kenshi is about enabling people that want to make a real difference to raise thousands of dollars without the uncomfortable task of asking for donations. This means they can focus on the real work of making a difference instead of spending all their time raising money.
Now, struggling to keep up with demand, we are collaborating with the Chin refugee community in Melbourne to produce the candles. After fleeing from civil war in Myanmar, these amazing people are now earning much needed income by making the candles here in Melbourne.
Making the Candles
After months of research and testing we have created a candle as good as anything else out there. We understand that while a great story is important, nothing can replace a quality product.
Vital to this is never sacrificing quality for price which is why our candles are made with the highest grade natural soy wax, essential oils and cotton wicks with no shortcuts taken when it comes to quality.
After months of research and testing I have come up with a candle that works perfectly. All our candles are hand poured here in Melbourne with the full process from pouring to packaging done in-house by hand.
